If you are not eligible to become a permanent resident of Canada, you may be able to apply on a humanitarian and compassionate (H&C) grounds. These individuals usually have exceptional cases and H&C cases are assessed on a case-by-case basis. There are several factors that are considered for these types of cases.
H & C is for people without any status but who have made Canada their home. If you are someone or know someone who in living in Canada without any status, still there are options! You may be able to qualify for and H&C and obtain Canadian permanent residence status.
However, the H & C application is a long process. The applicant needs to demonstrate the hardships that they would endure upon returning to their home country and have well established in Canada. The H & C applications need to be submitted along with several supporting documents in order to bring a successful outcome.
