Canadian citizens and permanent residents can sponsor their parents and grandparents who want to live in Canada permanently, through the Family Class sponsorship.
The sponsors who wish to bring their parents and grandparents on a temporary basis can apply for short term visas such as Temporary Resident Visa or Visit Visa or able to bring them on longer on Super Visas. Longer or shorter, these are temporary visas only.
Regular parents and grandparents Sponsorships allow the sponsors to bring their Family members as permanent residence to Canada.
The sponsor in Canada must meet the following requirements:
- The sponsor must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident;
- The sponsor must be 18 years of age or older;
- The sponsor and his or her family must have the minimum necessary income level for this program
- The sponsor must sign an undertaking to repay any provincial social assistance benefits paid to the sponsor and accompanying family member(s), if any, for a period of 20 years, if necessary; and
